Interbank trading turnover in Vietnamese dong increases nearly 26pct in week between Dec 24 and 30, 2011
In the week between December 24 and 30, 2011, the total interbank trading turnover in US dollar increased over 9% week on week after a strong increase of over 27.5% in the previous week, according to the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV)’s report on banking operations in the last week of 2011.
According to the report of credit institution, till December 28, the total interbank transaction volume during the week in Vietnamese dong reached approximately 258.014 trillion dong, averaging at 51.603 trillion dong per day and it was 118.974 trillion dong in US dollar, averaging at 23.795 trillion dong per day.
Thus, in week, the trading turnover in dong increased 25.59% from the previous week while the trading value in US dollar saw a rise of over 9% on week.
In the previous week, till December 21, the total interbank trading turnover in dong reached approximately 205.436 trillion dong, averaging at 41.087 trillion dong per day, and in US dollar at 109.096 trillion dong, averaging at 21.819 trillion dong per day.
In week, transactions occurred mainly short and overnight terms, 1-week and 2-weeks, of which the overnight transaction volume accounted for the biggest proportion with nearly 100.738 trillion dong in Vietnamese dong, or 39% of the total trading value.
Transactions in US dollar occurred mainly in overnight and 1-week terms with total value of 54.609 trillion dong, or 46% of the total transaction volume. – Vietbiz24
