Japan’s Honda Motor Co said on Friday it will increase annual production of its new 125 cc PCX motorcycle model by 30 percent to 60,000-70,000 units.
Sales of the model have been better than expected in Japan, Europe and Vietnam, a company spokeswoman said.
To boost PCX production without affecting the output of other products, Honda will extend its hours of overtime operations at its Bangkok unit – Thai Honda Manufacturing Co, the spokeswoman said.
Honda eventually plans to introduce more than 10 different motorcycle models which can be sold across different markets worldwide, according to the Nikkei business daily. Rival Yamaha Motor is pursuing a similar strategy, the paper said. – Reuters
