Hoi An Tourism and Culture Week Opens
Hoi An Tourism and Culture Week opened March 22. The event scheduled to end on April 1 will include many interesting cultural and sports activities. The week, held by the People’s Committee of Quang Nam province’s Hoi An town, aims to mark the 35th anniversary of the town liberation (28/3/1975- 28/3/2010) and the 35th year of Quang Nam province’s liberation (24/3/1975- 24/3/2010).
Important activities will take place on March 28 with a meeting to celebrate the 35th year of Hoi An town’s liberation. Art performances proving the town’s history in fights against enemies and development, parades, a march of flower-decorated carriages, sea sports and a gala entitled “Melody of the time†will be shown.
Coming here, you will enjoy various other cultural and sports such as holding contest to decorate and march flower-decorated carriages on the town streets; camp named “Hoi An young people follow heroic traditionâ€; art programme “Wonderful ancient town’s moon night” and performance themed “Festival of fishing villageâ€. The event will also include a football prize for small girls, kite contest and exchange meetings with artists in Hoi An.
On April 1, at Cua Dai Beach, fishing communes and wards will organise a meeting to mark the day when Late President Ho Chi Minh visited them. They will also hold a festival to wish for bumper fishing crops and march local fishermen’s flower boats.
A programme to respond to “Earth Hour†with the theme “Small actions will make big changes†will be launched on March 27.
On March 27 evening, all lights in Hoi an will be replaced with lanterns and flower garlands and coloured lanterns will be put on river. The boats and streets will become more beautiful with different kinds of lights. People will sing songs about love, environment and hometown. They will play musical instruments, flutes and guitas. Shops to sell flower garlands and coloured lanterns will be set up on streets, including ones fixing the lantern prices. At “Earth hour†time, the town’s entire light system will be turned off, including the symbol of Hoi An.
