Health Minister Appreciates Int’l SOS Vietnam in Facilitating Investment Environment

International SOS Vietnam, a leading foreign-owned enterprise providing medical services foreign expatriates in Vietnam, has helped set tourists and investors’ mind at rest, and stabilize the investment environment in Vietnam, remarked Minister of Health Nguyen Quoc Trieu at a ceremony on November 21, 2009 to review 20 years of the company’s operation in Vietnam and receive noble awards by the State President and Prime Minister.
Many high-ranking officials from the State of Vietnam, National Assembly, the Vietnamese Government, and representatives from embassies and foreign-invested enterprises in Vietnam attended the ceremony.
Since the law for foreign in investment was first passed in Vietnam, International SOS Vietnam has been active in providing best quality health check-ups and emergency services to the expatriate community and international friends who come to Vietnam. The organization’s activities have played an essential role in stabilizing and developing the environment for foreign investment in Vietnam to flourish, said Mr. Trieu.

On the occasion, International SOS Vietnam had the very honor of receiving the 1st Medal of Labour of the State President approved on June 3, 2009. At the same time, the 2nd Medal Labor, 3rd Medal of Labor and Certificate of Merit from the State President were also presented to Mr. Arnaul Vassie - Group CEO, Dr. Pascal Rey-Herme – Group Medical Director, Mr. Laurent Sabourin – Group General Director and Mr. Ta Minh Long - Region General Director.
International SOS Vietnam has honor to be the first foreign enterprise to receive the prestigious 3rd medical of labor in 1999, which market the government’s recognition of the contributions made by Vietnam-based International SOS to the nation’s economy. The 2nd Medal of Labour was presented to the company in 2004.
OSCAT/AEA Vietnam, a precursor of International SOS, was licensed in Vietnam in 1989. A wholly foreign-owned enterprise, International SOS now provides medical services to over 1,000 companies, representative offices, diplomatic offices and international organizations in Vietnam. The company has salvaged and exploited International SOS group’s strength on personnel, professional capacities, facilities, partners over 70 countries, regions and territories in five continents.
International SOS Vietnam has the headquarter in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province, branches in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and a system of international clinics and emergency transportation in the three major economic centers. It has so far operated 23 health clinics in 13 provinces, cities and 2 emergency centers 24/24 hours, had a team of over 300 multi-citizenship doctors and professional staff, and closely connected with the hospital network in over 50 provinces and cities.
Its operation has close connections with the centers, international clinics, and the system of International SOS group throughout 5 continents to meet timely the customers’ needs: 28 emergency centers, 30 hospitals, over 250 health centers, 13 special aircrafts for emergency, and a 6,500 hospital network worldwide.
The renovation was to enhance Vietnam’s position in the international arena with historical mark, the Company was indicated to participate and support for the political, economic, cultural, and sports key events organized in Vietnam such as the Fancophone Summit in 2000, the 22nd Seagames in 2003, the 5th ASEN Conference in 2004, the 14th APEC in 2006, Saigon’s 300th Anniversary, the International Buddhist Conference and the United Nations Day of Vesak in 2008, ect.
Health Minister Nguyen Quoc Trieu highly values great efforts of the managing board of International SOS Vietnam, particularly Mr. Ta Minh Long, General Director of International SOS Vietnam, who has dedicated 20 years to not only health care services but also to the field of foreign investment. The organization’s depth of involvement in Vietnam’s economic arena as well as its close collaboration with other major health institutions in the country reassure foreign investors who have come to Vietnam, noted Mr. Trieu.
