HCM City seeks road investment

HCM City is seeking investment capital for metro routes 3, 4 and 6, according to the HCM City People’s Committee.

The three metro routes are among the 20 additional projects that the HCM City People’s Committee has petitioned the Ministry of Planning and Investment to put on the list of projects that call for investment capital this year.

Route No 3 is comprised of line 3a and line 3b. The 3a line connects Ben Thanh Market in District 1 to Tan Kien Road in Binh Chanh District. The 3b line links Ben Thanh Market and Hiep Binh Phuoc in Thu Duc District.

The route No 4′s first phase will connect Ben Cat Bridge in District 12 to Nguyen Van Linh Road and the route will be 24 km in length. The second phase of the project will link Nguyen Van Linh Road to Hiep Phuoc Port Industrial Park with a road that will be 24km in length.

The 6km route No 6 will connect Ba Queo Intersection in Tan Binh District to Phu Lam Rounda in District 6.

Besides calling for investment capital for these routes, the city will expedite the construction of the metro routes 1, 2 and 5.

Construction of the 19.7km metro route No. 1 from Ben Thanh Market to Suoi Tien Park in District 9 is expected to be completed at the end of 2014.

The metro route No. 1 is expected to transport about 526,000 passengers a day, when it becomes operational. —VNS
