HCM City hosts Trade and Technology Conference 2010

More than 200 representatives from businesses operating in the fields of technology, banking and finance gathered in HCM City on October 13 to attend the 2010 trade and technology conference.

Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Tran Duc Lai told the conference that over the past 10 years, Vietnam’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector has achieved a breakthrough with its annual turnover increasing by over 20 percent. This year, the sector is expected to earn US$8.8 billion.

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Van Lang said that the focus of the development strategy on science and technology for the 2011-2020 period is to build and develop a sustainable science and technology sector, tap into the country’s human resources, culture, and natural resources and ensure integration into the international scientific community, improve Vietnam’s human resources in the long – term.

Managers from leading technology companies also discussed technological trends in the emerging markets, challenges and seize opportunities in the future. – VOV
