HCM City’s FDI attraction reaches over $1.37Bln in Jan-May

From early this year till May 16, there have been 118 FDI (foreign direct investment) projects being licensed in HCM City with a total pledged capital of $1.316 billion, according to the HCM City Statistics Bureau.

Of which, there were 29 joint venture projects capitalized at $86 million and 89 100 percent foreign-invested ones with a total investment capital of $1.23 billion.

Regarding the investment fields, the industry sector drew 15 projects worth $1.033 billion, construction sector lured 16 projects valued at $11 million, trade sector with 33 projects for $91.9 million and real estate and consulting service sectors with 48 projects for $175.9 million.

Singapore is now HCM City’s largest foreign investor with nearly $1.104 billion for 19 projects and then Korea with 21 projects worth $22.7 million, Japan (16 projects worth $6.7 million), the US (10 projects for $10.5 million), Taiwan (4 projects for $129.9 million), Netherlands (five projects worth $24.3 million) and Brunei (one project worth $5 million).

There were 36 FDI projects registering to raise investment capital and chartered capital totaled at $54.1 million. The total newly-granted and raised FDI capital till May 16 in HCM City reached $1.37 billion, up 62.5 percent from the same period last year.

The total number of valid FDI projects till May 16 in HCM City reached 3,990 ones capitalized at over $31.056 billion. – Vietbiz24
