Hanoi’s total retail sale and services soars 1.9pct in Sept.
Hanoi’s total retail sales and services in September are estimated to have increased by 1.9% from August and 20.1% over the same period last year, of which the total retail sale soared 1.7% and 20.8% respectively, Hanoi Statistics Office said in its socio-economic report in the city in September and the first nine months of this year.
Thus, the capital city’s total retail sale and services in the first nine months of this year are estimated to have increased by 21.8% year on year, of which the total retail sale is estimated to have increased by 23.4% y-o-y.
The rise of Hanoi’s retail sale and service in Jan-Sep if excluding the price factor would be 4.7% from the same period last year, much lower than against 2010 (it was 20.4%) due to the city’s CPI (consumer price index) in Jan-Sep is estimated to have increased by 17.76% on year while the index in 2010 was 9.05%.
In addition, due to the impacts of highly surging price of consumer goods, so consumers are gradually tightening their spending and using the popular products, domestically produced products to replace luxury and imported products.
As estimated, in 2011, Hanoi’s total retail sale and services would increase by 21.4% on year, of which, retail would surge by 22.7% (and it would be 3.6% if excluding the surging price factor). – Vietbiz24
