Hanoi’s FDI attraction touches nearly $1b in Jan-Sept

Hanoi Statistics Office has recently released socio-economic report for September and the first nine months of this year whereby the capital city’s FDI (foreign direct investment) attraction in Jan-Sep is estimated to have reached 239 projects worth $999.6 million, increasing 3 times from the same period last year.
The total number of newly granted projects reached 190 valued at $493.5 million and the total number of projects registering to raise capital was 49 with total raised capital of $506.1 million.

Some large projects were licensed and registered to increase investment capital such as Yen So wastewater treatment project capitalized at $322.2 million invested by Gamuda Land Vietnam Ltd Co, Vietnammobile business cooperation contract project registered to increase investment capital by $385 million and GTel Mobile Joint Stock Co (GTel Mobile) increased its registered capital by $117 million.

In 2011, the capital city expects to lure 455 FDI projects capitalized at some $1.5 billion (up 75.5% year on year), including 390 newly-licensed projects worth $760 million and 65 existing projects registering to scale up chartered capital with a total of $740 million. – Vietbiz24
