Hanoi Starts Operating Old Quarter Info Center March 25
The Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just opened the old quarter information center in an effort to attract more foreign visitors to the city, said Mai Tien Dung, vice director of the department.
The establishment will help young people in Hanoi understand more about the values of the nation and traditional products; provide tourists and tour guides information about origin and specific features of traditional handicrafts of Thang Long – Hanoi as well as introduce cultural projects.
The center will also provide advice to people in the old quarter in preserving and promoting heritages of Hanoi in particular and in the country in general, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) said Mar 30.
Hanoi welcomed around one million international travelers in 2009, down 20% on year. The city aims to greet 1.5 million foreign tourists this year.
At present, the number of foreign tourists to Hanoi accounts for 33% of the country’s total.
