Ground clearance for HCM City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay expressway to be speeded up

Dong Nai province people’s committee has lately requested the local authorities to take responsibility for coordinating with the functional authorities to speed up the works of ground clearance and resettlement for the local residents to hand over the background for the investors in time to carry out the construction project of HCM City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay expressway.

As for the HCM City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay expressway project, among over 1,000 households that need to be moved out, there were 992 households that already handed over the ground with total area of 330 hectares. However, the remaining 35 households haven’t agreed to receive the compensation charges and moved out. Dong Nai province people’s committee have required the local authorities to push up the ground clearance and resettlement arrangement for the households whose land was to be revoked.

The HCM City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay expressway was one part of the North-South Expressway project to be carried out by Vietnam Expressway Investment Development Corp (VEC) as the main investor. The 55-kilometre expressway has total investment capital of 932 billion dong, with starting point of HCM City, via four districts of Nhon Trach, Long Thanh, Cam My and Thong Nhat in Dong Nai province. The construction works were started on October 3, 2009 and expected to be finished in 2012.
