Gold prices surge by 300,000/tael

Domestic gold prices on June 9 rose sharply by VND300,000/tael following minor fluctuations over the past few days.

In Ho Chi Minh City, SJC gold was posted at VND26.5-26.57 million/tael, up VND310,000-320,000 compared to a day earlier, while it was bought at VND26.5million and sold at VND26.62 million/tael in Hanoi.

Bao Tin Minh Chau gold was transacted at VND26.49-26.59million/tael, down VND220,000 compared to the previous afternoon and Phuong Nam NJC gold at VND26.46-26.54 million/tael, up VND280,000 from the early morning of April 8.

This was in tandem with a rise in global gold prices. In the New York market, gold hit US$1,153/oz on April 8 while the price in Asia was US$1,150.2/oz.
