Gold prices set new record of VND30.29 million/tael

The world’s gold value reached a new peak of US$1,290 per ounce on September 22, making domestic gold prices approach VND30.29 million/tael, VND200,000/tael more than the previous day.

In Ho Chi Minh City, at opening time, SJC gold was transacted at VND30.18-30.22 million/tael, rising VND170,000/tael against the previous day. It continued to increase sharply and stood at VND30.23-30.27 million/tael at 2.19pm.

Meanwhile, in Hanoi, at early afternoon, SJC gold was listed at VND30.23-30.29 million/tael, VND20,000/tael more expensive than gold prices in HCM City. Also, at 2.30pm, Thang Long gold at Bao Tin Minh Chau company hovered around VND30.20-30.28 million/tael.

The atmosphere remained quiet in gold stores due to the fact that investors were rather cautious while gold prices increased strongly. However, the amount of gold sold was higher than gold bought because small investors wanted to seek profits.

The price of domestic gold was affected by global gold prices, which set a new record of US$1,290.40 per ounce late on September 21.-VOV
