Gold prices increase slightly

The domestic price of gold was VND35.78-35.87million/tael on December 25, showing increase of VND30,000-50,000/tael compared to the previous transaction.

In Hanoi, at 11am, SJC gold was transacted at VND35.78-35.87 million/tael. Meanwhile, in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang and Can Tho, it stood at VND35.78-35.85 million/tael.

In New York market, the world’s gold prices at closing time on December 24 hovered around US$1,384-1,385 per ounce, up US$5 per ounce compared to the previous day.

The increase of gold prices is mainly due to worries over the debt crisis in Europe and the tensions between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Republic of Korea (RoK). – VOV
