France, Vietnam discuss nuclear safety

A Vietnamese delegation is visiting the French agency for nuclear safety for more information about several international conventions and treaties in the field of nuclear energy.

The delegation, headed by Dr Le Chi Dung, Vice Head of the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety (VARANS), also plans to research the systems for human resources management and the activities of the French agency for nuclear safety.

They would focus on issues related to coping with incidents, which they said is of great importance to nations like Vietnam that are going to build their first nuclear power plants.

Mr Dung said the Vietnamese delegates plan to arrange for experts from the French agency for nuclear safety to be sent to Vietnam.

Last March, VARANS met with experts from its French counterpart to discuss bilateral cooperation programmes.
