FPT Telecom suddenly raises monthly charges

FPT Telecom Joint Stock Co has lately suddenly raised the monthly charges for its Internet subscribers by at least 30,000 dong per month, starting from March 16, 2011.

The telecommunication firm has mentioned in the announcement about changes in service policy previously that the company planned to make investment for upgrading by additional 50 Gbps in 2011, raising the total Internet connection capacity of FPT Telecom up to 100 Gbps.
With the new connection capacity, FPT Telecom would be able to meet the increasing demands of customers for speeding up the Internet connection, and using Internet-based services such as raising the connection speed to 8Mbps at maximum, offering free of charges for iTV services.

However, this was considered as shocking movement to customers who have chosen FPT Telecom as the reliable Internet services provider. In a harsh competition race among the providers, apart from charge reduction, improving service quality was considered as top priority for the providers to expand their market shares. Therefore, it is somehow unreasonable for FPT Telecom to drag the customers in their effort to upgrade the provider’s infrastructure facilities. – Laodong
