FPT leadership shuffle sparks intrigue

The public is curious about what is behind recent FPT general director Nguyen Thanh Nam resignation and fresh appointment of deputy general director Truong Dinh Anh as the new general director.

The change was beneficial to FPT development in the next 15 years, according to the group’s leadership.

Anh is known as a clear-headed, decisive and ambitious man.

Business efficiency and time required for achieving the set targets are top priorities by FPT young up-and-coming leader when he embraces a new project.

Under his management, FPT Telecom posted an exceptional revenue growth of approximately 50 per cent per year in five straight years and in 2010 it reaped revenue of VND2.450 trillion ($118.3 million), 33 per cent more than 2009.

Shedding some light on the new appointment, FPT top-notches said 2011 would be the first year the group embraced on its long-haul development plan which envisages a four-fold growth in the profit target from 2011-2014.

To achieve the set goal, FPT leadership highlights promoting the public-private partnership in information technology development, IT products and software production and export, digital content training and trading which would bring the IT giant exceptional growth in profit figures.

FPT used to capture an exceptional growth of 70-80 per cent per year and high dividend rate of 70-80 per cent also after it completed equitisation in 2002-2003. The growth slowed down in some recent years but it was at least 23 per cent per year. The CEO change is expected to re-energise the group development.

FPT is the leading IT company in Vietnam, having obtained more than 1,000 international technology certificates.

FPT has been voted the “Most Prestigious IT Corporation in Vietnam”, “Best Enterprise Partner of the Year”, “Vietnam Golden Star” among other awards.

Truong Dinh Anh, 41, graduated from Hanoi’s National Economics University in 1992. He has been working for FPT since 1993.

In 1995, Truong Dinh Anh was responsible for FPT’s Research and Development Department. In 1997, he was appointed director of FPT Online eXchange (FOX) (now FPT Telecom).

He is founder of the most-used Intranet in Vietnam and one of co-founders of VnExpress newswire.

In May 2004, he was voted as member of FPT’s managing board.

In July 2009, he was appointed deputy general director of FPT.- tuoitrenews
