Forum highlights Vietnam-RoK multi-faceted cooperation
A Vietnam-RoK forum was held in Hanoi on October 26 to seek opportunities for investment cooperation in economics, culture and society.
President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vu Tien Loc affirmed the status of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) as strategic partners with many of RoK’s leading corporations – such as Sam Sung, LG, Posco, and Hyundai – operating in Vietnam. He expressed admiration for RoK achievements in recent years, especially its impressive economic rise over the last two decades.
Mr Loc said with the strategic partnership, Vietnam and the RoK has shown bright prospects for further cooperation in the years to come. In addition, if the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries is signed, bilateral relations will only get stronger.
Chan Ho Ha, RoK ambassador to Vietnam, emphasized that Vietnam is the RoK’s big trade partner, and the RoK is willing to share experiences in the development field with Vietnam.
At the forum, Dang Huy Dong, deputy minister of Planning and Investment, affirmed that the RoK is one of Vietnam’s most important foreign trade partners, with a total investment of US$22 billion. In September 2011 alone, the RoK invested in 163 projects capitalized at more than US$428 million in Vietnam. He expressed hope that the forum will help RoK businesses learn more about the business environment and new investment opportunities in Vietnam.
Vietnam is committed to creating a favourable business environment so that the RoK will continue to promote its investment in the country in the future. – VOV
