Fighting with fake cosmetics

The Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Competition Management Agency and the Vietnam Science and Technology Joint Stock Company (Vina CHG) – the Vietnam’s anti-counterfeit goods communication portal (www.chonghanggiavn.vn) will join hands to host a workshop ‘Combating imitated and counterfeit cosmetics, protecting consumer interests’ on September 22, 2010 at Kim Do Hotel at 133 Nguyen Hue Road, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

The workshop seeks to put forward practical and effective measures to avoid the production and distribution of fake and substandard cosmetics through scientific studies of specialists working in scientific, economic, communications, social, humanity, chemical and pharmaceutical fields. The workshop will particularly focus on unpredicted dangers to consumer health when using fake and substandard cosmetics, partly due to the consumers’ liking for using foreign-made or cheap products of unclear origins.

The organizing committee said that the entire society must join hands to heighten the effectiveness of the fight against fake goods. This is particularly urgent in the current market conditions to reduce fake goods cases in the cosmetics industry that have incurred serious losses to the society, particularly to genuine cosmetics producers and traders. – VEN
