Domestic tours still available during holidays

Ho Chi Minh City-based travel companies Saigontourist, Vietravel, Fiditour, and TST said domestic tours can still be booked for the April 30 – May 3 holidays.

However, few outbound tours are available because flights are fully booked, they said.

The tours that are still available include to Phan Thiet, Nha Trang, Da Lat, northeastern destinations, and Hanoi – Ha Long – Ninh Binh – Sapa.

However, hotels are fully booked in many places.

In Vung Tau, at the Bien Dong Tourism Area, all 27 rooms were booked a fortnight ago. The Thuy Duong Tourism Area too said all its 114 rooms have been booked.

The situation is worse in Da Nang which will host the International Fireworks Competition on April 29 and 30.

Hotels like Bach Dang, Green Plaza, Bamboo Green, Daesco, and Riverside reported they have no rooms left.

Though the city people’s committee ordered hotels not to hike tariffs by more than 30 percent, some have doubled and even tripled rates.

G. Hotel on Pham Van Dong Street upped its rates to a minimum of 2.8 million dong (US$140), four times the normal price. – Tuoitre
