Dak Lak: honey exports reach over US$20 million

The Dak Lak Honey Bee Joint Stock Company in the central highland province of Dak Lak in 2010 exported 11,000 tonnes of honey, valued at more than US$20 million, doubling last year’s figure.

Honey products were exported to the US, Canada, Japan and the Republic of Korea. Notably, the US imported 80 percent of the honey products from Dak Lak province. In 2011, the company plans to explore new markets, such as Middle East and North America.

The company extended its production in Dak Lak province, parts of Central Highland provinces and the southwestern region. It also invested over VND25 billion for honey-rearing households.

In addition, three storage buildings were set up in Dak Lak, Binh Phuoc and Ho Chi Minh City with a total capacity of 13,000 tonnes of honey, hi-tech equipment and quality packaging facilities to meet foreign customers’ demands. – VOV
