Curbing rising drug prices by year end
The Drug Administration of Việt Nam under the Ministry of Health (MoH) recently sent an official document to foreign drug companies asking them to ensure the supply of medicines for the market stability.
The drug providers will have to take measures to regulate and minimize costs which would affect the prices of medicines in Việt Nam. They should not also raise drug prices until the year end in conformity with the Government’s solutions to stabilize the economy and rein in inflation.
The Drug Administration suggested these companies provide adequate drugs and input materials for their Vietnamese partners to meet the demand.
In case of possible shortage, these companies were requested to maintain supplies and report to the Drug Administration for proper solutions.
The Administration also proposed the enterprises to work with the MoH and the Ministry of Finance to offer discounts for medical products which are used in large quantities in Việt Nam.
