Creating better conditions for Vietnamese entrepreneurs
Vietnamese businesspeople not only participate in the country’s economic activities but also the Party’s activities.
A pilot programme on admitting businesspeople to the Communist Party of Vietnam is expected to be approved at the 11th National Party Congress. A VOV reporter interviewed Vu Tien Loc, Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) about the role of entrepreneurs on the sidelines of the Congress.
VOV: What is the significance of admitting private business owners to the Party?
Mr. Loc: This policy is very important reflecting the urgent need to develop businesspeople and promote the Party’s leadership in the private economic sector. It is aimed at bolstering the confidence of businesspeople involved in economic and political activities.
Permitting Party members to do private business and admitting private business owners to the Party will create favourable conditions for Party members to enhance their role. It will also make it easier for business owners to implement the Party’s policies if they are Party members.
In addition, the strength of the Party will be built up in business circles. Apart from business owners, labourers will also have the chance to become Party members.
VOV: What are Vietnamese entrepreneurs’ expectations from the 11th Party National Congress?
Mr. Loc: This is the first time in the Party’s documents, Vietnamese entrepreneurs are considered a major force, joining farmers, workers, and intellectuals in strengthening the national unity bloc. This is also the first time the Party requests the implementation of a national strategy on business development.
Against the background, building and implementing a national strategy on business development is a vital issue in the upcoming period. The Party considers economic development as an important factor in building up a strong Party.
Therefore, we hope that the Party will soon issue a resolution on the development of Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the near future.
VOV: Representing Vietnamese entrepreneurs at the Congress, What do you have in mind to contribute to the Congress’s success?
Mr. Loc: In addition to affirming the role and position of Vietnamese entrepreneurs, the Congress needs to focus on completing the market economic institution and stepping up the renewal process to create favourable conditions for businesspeople to develop.
VOV: Thank you very much!
