Corporation plans $190 mln electronic chip factory

The Saigon Industry Corporation announced its plan to build an integrated circuit manufacturing plant worth $190 million at a seminar in Ho Chi Minh City on June 30.

The project was placed on the list of national key programmes by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

At the seminar, hosted by the corporation itself, the company called on the government to adopt preferential policies regarding tax, investment capital and expert employment for its realisation of the project.

Nguyen Van Dua, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, underlined the significance of the project, which, he said, is to contribute to the country’s industrial development.

The seminar, which drew some 60 domestic and foreign professors, experts and businesses, provided an overall picture on the semi-conductor industry in the world and Vietnam in particular.

It voiced the need to build electronic chip production plants in the country during the process of industrialisation and modernisation. – VIR
