Construction sector witnesses growth of over 118pct y-o-y

Ministry of construction has lately announced that the whole production value of the subsidiaries under the ministry in February was posted at nearly 9.214 trillion dong, raising the accumulative value in the first two months of 2011 to 20.993 trillion dong, equivalent to 118.2 percent against the same period last year.

In details, the construction value that these member companies have conducted in February was posted at 4.443 trillion dong.
Accumulatively, the total construction value in Jan-February was estimated at over 9.696 trillion dong, equalling to 124.1 percent year-on-year. The industrial production and construction material value in February was posted at about 3.048 trillion dong, and accumulative value of 7.468 trillion dong, up 132.2 percent year-on-year

Last month, Vietnam reported consuming 2.25 million tonnes of cement, and accumulative consumption volume in first two months of 6.08 million tonnes, equivalent to 11.2 percent of the year plan. There was a sharp decline in cement consumption volume in February due to long Tet holiday.
