Construction on Song Chay 5 hydropower plant started

Song Da 5 Investment, Construction and Energy Development Joint Stock Co officially started construction work on Song Chay 5 hydropower plant project yesterday December 20 in Then Phang Commune, Xin Man Dist, Ha Giang province.

Vu Khac Tiep, the company’s chair of management board revealed that Song Chay 5 hydropower plant had two turbines with total designed capacity of 16MW. The total investment capital for this project was estimated at about 400 billion dong.

As planned, by early 2012, the two turbines will have been put into operation and joined the national grid, providing about 70 million KWh per year.

Apart from supplying electricity, the hydropower plant will also support the province’s socio-economic development progress, creating jobs for local people.
