Construction begins on Noi Bai-Lao Cai expressway
Bidding package No 10 of Noi Bai-Lao Cai expressway began in Kim Thanh industrial zone in the northern border province of Lao Cai on April 24.
The first section of the road is 3.3km long, stretching from Kim Thanh bridge to Quang Kim commune in Bat Xat district.
The expressway has a width of 24m and 4 lanes designed for vehicles travelling at minimum speed of 80 km per hour. It runs through Lao Cai city for 19km and has total investment of VND2,300 billion.
Under bidding package No 10, the road is located in Quang Kim commune bordering China. It plays an important role in the Noi Bai-Lao Cai expressway because it connects to the traffic network of China’s southwestern region, said Dang Van Luong, deputy director of Lao Cai’s Department of Transport.
Once completed, the expressway will be the shortest and most direct road connecting Lao Cai to Hanoi, reducing the travel time by half to only 3 or 4 hours.
