Companies ignore importance of IT

Many local companies have neglected to use IT consultant services to help achieve their business objectives, according to a recent survey conducted by the Institute of Information Technology for Business (ITB).

ITB’s survey on applying IT at small – and medium-sized enterprises said that only 14 per cent out of 1,060 polled companies used IT consulting services, while as many as 52 per cent said they did not have demand for such services.

Industry experts said that local IT companies preferred taking part in bidding and deploying IT projects rather than offering IT consulting services. Most IT firms said income from consulting services was low. In addition, the Government has not issued any specific regulations on IT consulting.
