Coffee exports likely to exceed $2 billion

Vietnam’s coffee export turnover is likely to exceed $2 billion in 2011 due to high prices, said the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (Vicofa) on April 21.

At present, Vietnamese coffee is sold at $2,430 per tonne in the Liffe market in London , the association said.

Between October 2010 and April 2011, the country shipped more than 600,000 tonnes of coffee, reaching an export turnover of $1.1 billion.

According to Vicofa, foreign coffee businesses have increased their purchase volume from 16 per cent in 2009 to 50 per cent currently. – VIR
