China to host 8th China-ASEAN expo

The eighth China-ASEAN Expo will take place in Nanning city, Guangxi, China, from October 21-26 under the theme of ‘cooperating to protect the environment’.

Addressing the press briefing on July 26, Secretary General of the organizing committee, Chen Yu, said the expo will focus on the new situation in 2011, which celebrates 20 years of dialogue between China and ASEAN.

So far, participants have registered to set up more than 4,200 pavilions at the expo. Six ASEAN countries, including Vietnam, have confirmed they will allow independent exhibitors to display their own products.

During the expo, there will be an ASEAN-China forum on environmental protection and a series of conferences and forums related to finances and quality inspections.

Trade turnover between China and ASEAN has increased by 37 times over the past 20 years. In the first half of 2011, it reached over US$171 billion and ASEAN is now China’s third largest trade partner. – VOV
