Cement prices decline

In September, the cement prices tended to slump due to plentiful supplies. At present, the cement retail price was posted at 0.93-1.13 million dong per tonne in the northern region and 1.1-1.4 million dong per tonne in the southern one.

In the last months of the year, the demands for cement was supposed to increase because of the construction season. Therefore, the cement production and sales in Q4 would reach about 13-14 million tonnes, while the cement price continued to stay unchanged or drop slightly.

In 2011, the country’s cement demand was estimated at 55-56 million tonnes, up 10 percent year-on-year; while the cement production capacity may increase to 60 million tonnes. – KTVN&TG
