BT seeks Vietnamese clients

Information technology infrastructure provider British Telecommunications (BT) says it is looking to establish a clientele of local exporters and businesses who want to expand their presence abroad.

The British IT giant, which had hitherto confined its operations in Vietnam to selling its products, now plans to set up a representative office here.

Kevin Taylor, the firm’s managing director in Asia Pacific said as enterprises sought to regionalize and globalize their businesses, IT networking services would play an increasingly key role in helping them grow.

BT provides services like security, video conferencing, customer relationship management, convergence, outsourcing, IT transformation and mobility.

Taylor said his company’s services would effectively support customers in an international framework, including multinationals coming to Vietnam for investment and trade.

Unilever, Reuters and Pepsi Co. are among the firm’s clients in Vietnam, the firm said.

BT is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BT Group Plc, whose revenues for the fiscal year ending March 2010 was £20.91 billion (US$25.2 billion), according to BT.
