Binh Duong hails EcoLakes development

The Ecolakes Show Village project has been “a catalyst for change” in southern Binh Duong Province, says Huynh Van Minh, deputy director of the HCM City Department of Construction.

Speaking at a function commemorating the residential complex’s first anniversary, Minh said it had played a part in promoting economic growth in the province.

He complimented project developer Setiabecamex JSC for its achievements last year.

Khoo Teck Chong, general director of Setiabecamex SJC said Ecolakes was an eco sanctuary. The project has showed that development need not be achieved at the expense of the environment, he said.

The network of rivers, ponds and parks in the urban area were the result of the local authorities’ commitment to protecting the natural environment, Chong added.

He also gave an account of Ecolakes’s corporate social responsibility activities last year, including: the “Longest Painting in Ecolakes”; the “World Environment Day,” which kicked off a year-long paper recycling competition for local schools; the Kite Festival; and the Lantern Fiesta.

He also said the company had implemented many incentive programmes including Ecolakes Gold Card and Ecolakes Reward to drive sales in 2010.
