Ben Luc-Long Thanh expressway project gets approval

Ministry of Transport has announced to approve the construction project of Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway (Long An – HCM City – Dong Nai) with total length of 57.8 kilometres.

Accordingly, in the first phase of the project, the investors will build the expressway with four lanes, 27.5 metres wide and designed speed for vehicles of 120 km/h. In the second phase, the expressway will be expanded into eight lanes. There will be 11 bridges over the river to be built, of which Binh Khanh Bridge and Phuoc Khanh Bridge are the largest ones with total length of 3.8 kilometres each.

The project has total investment capital of $1.6 billion, with $1.26 billion loans offered by Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) and the rest from State Budget.

As planned, the first phase of the project will be conducted within the period of 2012-2017. – Dautu
