Ball and partner will build beverage-can factory in Vietnam
Ball Corp. said Tuesday that it will help build a beverage-can factory in Vietnam to slake the thirst of the country’s growing middle class.
Ball said the plant would be a joint venture with partner Thai Beverage Can Ltd Production is expected to begin in the first half of 2012. Ball valued the project at $45 million including equipment it will provide.
The two companies have operated a can plant in Thailand since 1996. The factory in Vietnam will be able to produce 850 million cans.
Ball shares rose 56 cents to close at $36.24.
