ASEAN Remains Hanoi Top Importer in Jan-July
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) remained the largest export market of Hanoi in the first seven months of this year, making up 22% of the latter’s sum at US$4.2 billion.
The European Union ranked the second with 14.6%, followed by China and Japan with nearly 14% each and the U.S. with 12.3%.
Hanoi’s export staples reporting strong growth were computer components, up 35.4% on-year, electronics, up 32%, apparel, up 22.6% and coal, up 17.4%.
The municipal Industry and Trade Service plans to send more trade missions to China, India, Germany, Japan, South Korea and Turkey with an aim at further boosting its exports to these markets.
The service expects Hanoi’s total export revenues to rise to US$6.8 billion this year, surpassing its set target of US$6.68 billion, given high on-year export growth of 16% between January and July.
