ADB funds $70m to upgrade National Highway No 217 from Vietnam to Laos
Ministry of Transport has issued document seeking approval from the prime minister for the feasibility studies (F/S) for upgrading the traffic network project for the second Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) general plan – upgrading the National Highway No 217 connecting Vietnam with Laos. It’s considered the negotiation basic in signing a loan contract with Asian Development Bank (ADB)
The National Highway No 217, which connects Do Len, Ha Trung Dist, Thanh Hoa province with Na Meo border gate with Laos, will be upgraded to meet the standards of delta road level 3.
According to the feasibility studies, the project was supposed to be started from 2010 to 2015, with total expected investment capital of $205.47 million, of which ODA funds accounted for $173.3 million.
At present, ADB has committed to offer a loan of $70 million for this project.
