3 Pressures on steel industry in 2011
Vietnam steel industry is forecast to face with three main pressures this year, the online newspaper DanViet reported on Jan 11, citing the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA).
The first challenge to the local steel producers will come from low-price steel imported from China and ASEAN countries, VAS said.
The shortage of electricity in the dry season and difficulties in borrowing USD to import material will also affect local producers.
Moreover, some new steel projects will start to work out in the coming time, raising the steel supply in the market while the demand of construction still remained low.
Earlier, on December 2010, the steel consumption is estimated to total 4.9 million tons for the whole year of 2010. – Stoxplus.com
