13 new cement operations go on line

The Ministry of Construction and the Vietnam Cement Association have announced that an additional of 13 cement production lines, with a designed capacity of 11.7 million tonnes, will be completed in 2010.

When these production lines are put into operation, the cement industry will have a total capacity of nearly 70 million tonnes a year.

However, the cement supply will be redundant in the following years as consumer demand is expected to increase by 10-15 percent this year.
