Three Japanese groups participate in construction project of Lach Huyen port

Duong Chi Dung, chair of management board in Vietnam National Shipping Lines Corp (Vinalines) said that Japan’s three leading groups of Itochu, MOL and NYK will cooperate with Vinalines to set up a joint venture in order to start construction works on two harbours under Lach Huyen Port project, Hai Phong.

This project, using ODA loans offered by Japanese government, will be conducted under the public-private partnership (PPP) method. The construction works on Lach Huyen Port were supposed to be started within this year. However, due to difficulties in arranging ODA capital, the start-up for this project was delayed until next year.

In September, the two countries’ government will officially sign the agreement on preferential credit that Japanese government will offer to Vietnam to realise the Lach Huyen Port project.
