Tan Tao Group to build Nam Du deep-water seaport
Tan Tao Group (coded ITA) has signed a technical consulting contract with Royal Haskoning Vietnam Co (RHV) a part of Netherlands-based Royal Haskoning Group, for conducting construction on Nam Du deep-water seaport project.
Dang Thi Hoang Yen, ITA’s chair of management board revealed that ITA was the main investor for this project with total investment capital of $800 million. The project would be implemented in two phases: In the first phase of 2010-2013, the seaport will have total yearly designed capacity of 12 million tonnes of coal and five million tonnes of goods. In addition, the port will be able to receive 80,000 dwt carriers. Meanwhile, in the second phase of 2014-2020, the seaport’s designed capacity will be raised to 50 million tonnes of coal, 12 million tonnes of goods per year as well as having capacity to welcome 150,000-200,000 dwt.
The Nam Du deep-water seaport will play key role for transporting coal to Kien Luong Power Centre and other power plants to be put into operation in Mekong Delta region.
