The subway project No 5 in HCM City in the first phase (Bay Hien intersection- Saigon Bridge) will use the official development assistance (ODA) loan from the Spanish government.

Previously, HCM City People’s Committee petitioned the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MoPI) to allow the city to receive 500 million euro ($698.7 million) of preferential ODA loans from the Spanish government in the fiscal year 2010 to carry out the first phase of the project that has an estimated investment capital of over 700 million euro ($978.15 million).

The urban railway system in HCM City including six metro lines will use the ODA loan from Japan Bank for International Cooperation (Jbic), German-based KfW Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB) and European Investment Bank (EIB).
