Gold prices hit VND39.12 million per tael

SJC gold was traded VND39.04 million-VND39.12 million in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang and Can Tho on July 16; VND300,000 higher than the day before.

The sharp increase in the domestic gold price was due to the spike in gold prices in the New York market, which is likely to reach US$1,600 per ounce.

The rise in crude oil to nearly US$100 per barrel for fear of limited supply also contributed to the increase in the price of gold.
