Delta Week opens opportunities
The first-ever Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta Week in HCM City, which ended on Monday, offered many opportunities for local businesses in the region and city to seek partnerships.
The event, held from June 10 – 14 at HCM City’s Phu Tho Stadium, is part of a larger programme organised by the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta Economic Cooperation – Kien Giang 2010 (MDEC 2010) Forum.
Nguyen Trung Tin, vice-chairman of HCM City People’s Committee, said the Week was organised successfully by MDEC 2010, which has helped many businesses find partners and offered trade promotion activities.
The Business Centre, which offered the event’s most significant activities of the Week, was set up to help businesses seek information from their partners in order to enhance cooperation.
CEOs, directors, deputy directors and representatives of 105 businesses participating in the fair came to the centre to meet partners and seek potential customers.
The Week welcomed nearly 100,000 visitors who participated in a wide range of activities like the demonstration of craft-making by artisans, tai tu music (traditional Southern music), playground of traditional games, drawing contests for children and others.
The business fair, which included more than 200 booths, welcomed around 15,000 visitors per day.
The event’s board of organisation selected and honoured 43 businesses that have greatly contributed to socio-economic achievements between the city and the Delta.
The Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta Week’s aim was to raise the profile of the region’s trade, investment and tourism among local investors, residents and expatriates. — VNS
