Approval given to Dong Thap border gate economic zone

Deputy prime minister Hoang Trung Hai has approved the project on planning and developing Dong Thap border gate economic zone until 2030.

The natural area of the zone is 31,936 hectares, covering some communes, precincts and townlets located in Hong Ngu town, Hong Ngu district and Tan Hong district with two international border gates (Thuong Phuoc and Dinh Ba), and five subordinate gates (So Thuong, Thong Binh, Moc Ra, A Don and Binh Phu).

According to the planning, Dong Thap border gate economic zone will become a multi-sectoral economic zone, including industry, trade, service, tourism and urban areas; and agriculture, forestry and fishery areas in connection with the international border. The zone will be the centre for exchange activities of economic development between the countries in Mekong sub-region, initially Cambodia.

It is expected that by 2030, land area for economic zone will be about 5,200 hectares, of that land for urban area will be from 1,600 to 1.800 hectares.
