31 Countries to Attend Hue Festival 2010 on June 5-13
Thirty one countries will take part in the 2010 Hue Festival in Vietnam’s central province of Thua Thien-Hue on June 5-13.
They will include France, Russia, Denmark, China, South Korea, Japan, India, Thailand, Laos, the U.S., Mexico, Argentina, and Australia.
Under the theme “Cultural Heritage with Integration and Developmentâ€, the festival will be linked with the 1,000th Thang Long – Hanoi anniversary and the 375th anniversary of Hue city.
Besides traditional art items like the opening and closing ceremonies, the “ao dai†festival, the royal palace night (Dem Hoang Cung), the legend of the Perfume River (Huong Giang), the event will feature new shows like Oriental night, the itinerary to the south and the Hanoi-Hue-Saigon music show.
Launched in 2000, the festival is organized biennially, the organizing board said, adding that the province will organize 25 cultural and tourism programs this year.
In 2009, Thua Thien Hue welcomed over 1.3 million visitors, including 567,000 foreign tourists and earned tourism revenues of VND695 billion (US$37.6 million). This year, the province aims to serve 1.5 million visitors and expected the revenues up 15% from last year.
